More and more senior managers and executives are starting to realize the value of coaching and mentoring. They can see the benefits in sports where even the best athletes can gain from the skillful feedback of lesser capable performers based on observation and an open relationship.
We are prepared to develop and to partner with you in delivering a Coaching Plan for your organization to supplement what you’re already doing informally in developing your future leaders.
Part of that Coaching Plan may be based on Succession Planning already in place. Such Plans identify potential replacements for specific, current executive jobs. However, we’ve seen them also restrict talent development among capable leaders and foster a “Crown Prince Complex” with associated dysfunctional politics.
We advocate “Organizational Continuity Planning” based on the organization’s strategic plans, which can often mean different organizational structures and executive needs than currently exist. And since there has been a trend for increasing teamwork at all levels of organizations, we focus on the competencies within leadership teams rather than within specific individuals. This often means the development of pools of executive competencies to meet future needs.
